Pure carbon, crystallised under immense heat and pressure deep within the earth — and, once cut by a master, the most brilliant natural gem we know.

Our diamonds

Chosen for light, not just for paper

A grading report describes a diamond precisely, but it never describes all of it. Two stones with identical grades can look quite different on the hand, which is why every diamond we offer is judged by eye as well as by instrument — for brightness, for fire, and for the quality our clients simply call presence.

Whether you are choosing a solitaire, matching a pair of studs or sourcing a rare fancy colour for a commission, we will show you the difference side by side and explain exactly what you are paying for.

The 4Cs

The universal language of quality

Codified by GIA in the middle of the last century, the 4Cs let a jeweller in Hatton Garden and a client anywhere in the world describe the same stone in exactly the same terms.

01

Cut

The only C shaped by human hands, and the one that decides whether a diamond truly sparkles. Graded Excellent to Poor on round brilliants.

02

Colour

Graded D to Z, from colourless to light yellow. D–F are colourless; G–J read as white once set and are where value lives.

03

Clarity

Eleven grades from Flawless to I3. Most inclusions are microscopic, and VS and SI stones are frequently eye-clean.

04

Carat

Weight rather than size: one carat is 0.2 grams. Prices rise sharply at 0.50ct, 1.00ct and 2.00ct.

Interactive guide

The Diamond Chart

Explore the four Cs the way a gemmologist sees them — colour from D to Z, eleven clarity grades, how cut proportions bend the path of light, how width grows with weight, the classic outlines, fancy colours, and how diamond compares with the other great gems.

Wear & care

Keeping it at its best

Clean gently, often

Soak in warm water with a drop of mild washing-up liquid, then brush softly behind the stone, where daily film collects and dulls the light.

Store separately

A diamond will scratch other jewellery — and other diamonds. Keep each piece in its own pouch or a lined compartment.

Check the claws yearly

Bring your ring to us once a year for a complimentary inspection; a claw caught and lifted is a far smaller matter than a stone lost.

By appointment

Compare diamonds side by side

Seeing is understanding. Book a private appointment and we will prepare a selection of stones within your budget, so you can judge brilliance with your own eyes rather than on paper.
